Founded by design duo Emma Lezak and Lauren Letizio, Leoluca Handbags debuts their first line of contemporary women’s handbags with their Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. The initial line consists of classic styles created with high-end materials, quality craftsmanship and a trendy finish. To top it off, the stylish duo supports localism by sourcing all materials and labor all within the United States.

The fashionable twosome, who has been best friends for the past 15 years, took inspiration for the signature line from Italian Saint, Leoluca and Italian mobster, Leoluca Bargarella – in which the dual meaning is derived from both good and evil. “We were striving to do a classic bag, but one that’s edgy at the same time — bags that embody both Leolucas. Good and evil,” says co-founder Lauren Letizi.

The Fall/Winter 2011 Collection debut consists of genuine leather materials – some with ostrich embossing – and a variety of styles including: large totes, cross-body bags, shoulder bags and envelope clutches. Additional detailing includes metal studs for an edgy finish. While each handbags exterior is impeccably crafted, the interior is not overlooked. Each bag is lined with silk material in a sassy color or print and includes various style pockets.

ABOUT LEOLUCA HANDBAGS

In 2010, Emma Lezak and Lauren Letizio founded Leoluca Handbags. Both born and raised in Wooster, Ohio, it was hard for each to visualize a career in fashion, much less, starting a fashion business. The stylish pair both attended Wooster High School and graduated in 2003. They have been best friends for the last 15 years. Knowing that Wooster, Ohio didn’t have much of an opportunity for fashion nor design Emma and Lauren decided to move to San Diego, CA in 2005.

With Leoluca Handbags, the pair wanted to create something that would be useful to women in any location, at any age, and in any season. The duo designs and sketches each bag together. All quality materials and labor are sourced within the United States.

The name, Leoluca, is derived from an Italian Saint, Saint Leoluca as well as an Italian mobster, Leoluca Bagarella. The duality of the name helps show case their line, edgy but classy.
