Laura Langford is an emerging purse designer from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She specializes in handcrafting gorgeous leather bags, “her ambition is to create a product that is unique and that stands out from the competition. By incorporating handcrafted polished bone and metal decorative or functional elements into each bag she creates truly one-of-a-kind products that are eye-catching and elegant. On top of these unique touches, quality is also a very important feature of each bag Laura produces. The construction and finishing of each bag is done with the utmost care and with the highest quality materials available,” (lauralangford.ca). After checking out Laura’s collection I can see not only her vision in each of her bags but also her years of experience in design. It’s easy to see the amount of thought and careful planning Laura has put into each original piece. Currently these pieces can be bought at www.lauralangford.etsy.com, while Laura builds up her own website, www.lauralangford.ca . It was extremely hard to choose but here are two of my favorite purses from her Summer 2010 collection.
You can literally see the handcrafted detail in Laura’s large black leather tote just by looking at the double top braided handles. Most of all I love how it is really two purses in one, by clipping or releasing the two sides, the purse takes on a different shape. The bag measures approximately 10” in height, 10.5” in width with inside clip engaged, 18” in width without inside clip engaged and 5” in depth. It is lined with a printed canvas, has multiple interior pockets including one zip pocket and two exterior side pockets. This tote costs $280 at www.lauralangford.etsy.com
On a different note, Laura’s brown leather shoulder bag is a delicate, smaller sized purse with an equal amount of thought put in to each detail. Immediately the hand carved circular bone accent caught my eye, it’s such a beautiful contrast to the milk chocolate leather. The shoulder bag measures 11” in height and 9.5” in width with an exterior zip pocket on back, an inside pocket, magnetic clasp and brass chain strap. This Laura Langford handcrafted bag costs $165.
